Didi Chuxing, which acquired Uber’s Chinese operations in 2016, is teaming up with 11 carmakers to develop an open car-sharing platform for electric vehicles.

Renault Zoe

The partnership includes the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance that makes electric cars like the Zoe (pictured), as well as Kia and several Chinese carmakers

The partnership covers the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and Kia as well as local carmakers comprising BAIC BJEV, BYD, Chang’an Automobile Group, Chery Automobile Group, Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle, Geely Auto, Hawtai Motor, JAC Motors and Zotye Auto.

Under the partnership, Didi will open its platform to carmakers’ own sharing services. The platform will introduce to individuals and corporate partners not only diversified models from automakers, but also auto-related finance and insurance services.

Didi will also work closely with other car-sharing services, rental companies, infrastructure operators and after-sales service providers.
