The E-Class scored 95% for adult occupant protection, 90% for child occupant, 77% for pedestrian safety and 62% for safety assist.

The E-Class is fitted as standard with Mercedes-Benz's 'PRE SAFE'' system which senses when an accident is about to occur and primes the restraint and protection systems in readiness for the collision. Additional protection against whiplash injuries is provided by the autonomous emergency braking system which operates at the low speeds typical of city driving and is fitted across the range.

Meanwhile the 3008 scored 86% for adult occupant protection, 85% for child occupant, 67% for pedestrian and 58% for safety assist.

Euro NCAP also recognised the 3008 for having a front and rear seatbelt reminder system, a speed assistance system and lane departure warning as standard, while AEB is available as an option.
