The service will enable fleets to plan ahead for maintenance and reduce downtime.

Run under the ‘connect business’ brand, the range of products will include a vehicle monitoring and maintenance service that enables businesses to administer their fleets using a web-based portal that provides intelligent analysis and reporting tools. The service will enable fleets to plan ahead for maintenance and reduce downtime.

The service also includes a vehicle logistics offering, with map and GPS-based functions to enable more efficient operation, including through geofencing.

There will also be an app that forms part of the Digital Driver’s Log service and provides a telematics-based automated digital vehicle log, including measuring corporate and private mileage.

Head of Mercedes-Benz Connectivity Services, Christoph Ludewig said: “We are using and adapting the Daimler Group’s know-how in the field of connectivity and associated services. With ‘connect business’, fleet and business customers can use a modern connectivity solution in their fleet in a comfortable and individual way which facilitates tangible added value, such as optimisation of the process costs through realtime mileages and increased transparency in the fleet.”

The new “connect business” service can be integrated into existing IT environments as a web-based front end or via a standardised interface. Data will be transferred by a communication module which is installed into the car during the production process.

The new division, Mercedes-Benz Connectivity Services GmbH, will be operated by Daimler Finance Services and will be launched first in Germany and subsequently rolled out in other European markets as well as for multi-brand fleets.
