Telematics firm Scope Technologies and specialist technology Riga Technical University (RTU) have partnered to develop new technology to help municipalities and major cities identify dangerous infrastructure-related driving areas. 

The ‘Smart Cities’ technology collects traffic, weather and road accident data.

The ‘Smart Cities’ technology collects data through a range of telemetry, including geographical and road infrastructure data in conjunction with traffic, weather and road accident data, to help map and analyse potentially dangerous areas and identify where to make improvements.

Monty Nussbaum, CEO at Scope Technologies, said: “By combing driver behaviour with infrastructure, we can identify where the risk is greatest and local governments and insurers can get a clear picture of where they can identify dangerous driving areas, improve traffic management, modify their infrastructure or educate drivers better.

“The partnership does not stop at Smart Cities and we hope are looking forward to collaborating on future projects that will save lives and contribute to greater driving conditions.”
