Porsche has been ordered to recall 60,000 SUVs to fix manipulated diesel engines.

The software is said to reduce emissions controls for nitrogen-oxide, according to the German transport ministry in a statement.

The recall affects 52,831 Macan 3.0-litre V6 and 6,755 Cayenne 4.2-litre V8 diesel vehicles and follows in the wake of similar 3.0-litre V6 diesel-powered Touareg vehicles recalled in December 2017 when emissions cheat devices were discovered, affecting 57,600 cars.

It also comes a week after Audi suspended A6 and A7 deliveries, providing further grief to Volkswagen Group.

Porsche customers will be contacted by dealers once an engine fix has been approved by the German regulator.
