The carmaker said the new model has been renamed from its Captur cousin due to its local research carried out when the Kaptur was designed, which showed that the letter ‘К’ underscores the “Russian Touch” of the new model and is also associated with the key characteristics of the vehicle of quality, comfort and style.

Details, including which platform the model is based on, are yet to be released but the carmaker added that more information will be announced by the end this month.

The Kaptur will be produced at the Renault Moscow plant and there are no plans for it to be sold in Europe.
