Spanish true fleet sector outperforms total market

True fleet registrations continued to help drive positive growth in Spain’s passenger car market growth in March, latest Dataforce figures reveal.

Renault was the best selling car brand in the Spanish fleet market last month.

The true fleet sector saw 18.4% growth last month while the passenger car total market finished with 131,000 registrations up 12.9% for March and 8.8% YTD.

Within the true fleet top 10 manufacturers, Renault jumped four places into the lead, recording a + 75.9% over March 2016. VW was second after losing the top spot for the first time this year. Ford however was the highest mover, finishing third on the podium with a seven-place jump registering a + 61.0% to achieve its spot.

The rest of the top 10 order was as follows: Nissan, BMW, Peugeot, Audi, Toyota, Mercedes and SEAT. Interestingly all but one of the Top 10 achieved positive growth.

Looking at vehicle type, the biggest true fleet growth came from Utilities showing +66.1% growth followed by small cars with +44.6%. SUVs registered +34.6% and Sports Car produced +31.5%.

Within the small car segment, there were two new entries to the top 10, including the Nissan Micra in 10th position, which more than tripled last year’s registrations. The Mini One/Cooper finished ninth slipping from seventh, SEAT Ibiza was eighth tumbling from second and the Toyota Yaris in seventh fell from 5th. The Citroen C3 was the next entry from outside the top 10 moving from 11thinto sixth while the Peugeot 208 dropped from third info fifth.

The Opel Corsa was fourth, moving up from sixth while the Ford Fiesta was the highest mover jumping six places from ninth to third and the VW Polo took the second spot with a two-place surge from fourth.

The Renault Clio retained its place in the top spot for the seventh month in a row and registered over twice the volume of the VW Polo.
