Tata Motors Ltd to bring Land-Rover Evoque to Indian market

Tata Motors, which controls U.K.-based luxury vehicle maker Jaguar and Land Rover, will sell four variants of the Evoque with the top-end version priced at 5.67m rupees.

Three variants of the Evoque will be powered by a diesel engine while another one will have a gasoline engine, the company said.

Land Rover currently sells the Freelander 2, Range Rover and Discovery 4 SUVs in India. While Freelander 2 is assembled in India, the other models are imported from its factory in the U.K.

The Evoque was first unveiled in July 2010 but sales began in the U.K. in September this year. The company has since July last year received 30,000 bookings for the Evoque,

P.M. Telang, managing director for India operations at Tata Motors, has confirmed that the company may consider assembling the Evoque in India in the future.
