The new SUV-styled electric vehicle (EV) is to the showcased by the brand ahead of the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, on Tuesday 5 March. And, if the sketches are anything to go by, the EV features an aggressive exterior design, matched by an angular interior indicating the latest technological advancements including a large heads-up display.

The Q4 e-tron will be a smaller electric model than the flagship e-tron released late last year and forms part of the company’s broader plan to introduce 12 EV models.

The new car is likely to share components with its big brother, but due to the vehicle’s smaller size it’s probable the Q4 e-tron will be offered with smaller battery capacity options than the larger e-tron’s 95kWh lithium-ion battery.

The company added that the car will represent its “next stage of electric mobility”, which may indicate compatibility with the IONITY 350kW electric charging network, of which Audi is a founding member, that at its peak can provide 300km of range in just 15 minutes – something missing from the Q4 e-tron’s larger brother that can accept charging at up to 150kW.

Audi added that the Q4 e-tron will be presented as a volume-production vehicle in late 2020/early 2021.
