Ford targets SMEs with connected vehicle app

Ford has launched a professional version of its FordPass consumer app to provide SMEs with a variety of connected vehicle services, from booking a service to checking vehicle health.

The dedicated FordPass Pro app is intended to help SMEs maximise efficiency, security and productivity

Aimed at small business owners and owner operators running up to five vehicles, the dedicated FordPass Pro app is intended to help small business customers and owner operators maximise efficiency, security and productivity, all from a single screen.

Available in the Apple App Store and Google Play store in the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and France, with further markets to be added in the future, the FordPass Pro app initially enables businesses to remotely lock vehicles, find out important information on each vehicle, e.g. AdBlue levels, view location and see all key vehicle health indicators including fuel levels, oil life, and tyre pressure. Owners can also get alarm notifications and remotely start the engine, ensuring vans are warmed, de-iced and ready for work on early morning shifts.

Future features will include an enhanced security Guard Mode which will allow owners of vehicles equipped with the FordPass Connect on-board modem to be alerted about any activity in their van – including if they are unlocked with a key – while Online Service Booking will help owners to proactively manage the maintenance of their vehicles.

“Time is precious for small business owners, which is why we focus on delivering simple technology solutions that we know will make a big difference,” said Richard Bunn, FordPass director, Ford Mobility Europe. “The new FordPass Pro app will help our customers spend less time managing their vehicles and more time making their business a success.”

Ford is also continuing its work to support large fleet customers with telematics and data services through Ford Commercial Solutions, including expanding to new markets. The Ford Telematics services available to Ford fleet operators in the UK and Germany are to be rolled out to Spain, Italy and France. Ford Data Services is currently available in 15 markets in Europe: the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Austria, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal, Finland and Norway.
