Order books in mainland Europe are to open next week for the Volkswagen ID.3 electric hatch; intended to bring “emission-free mobility for all”.

Sales of ID.3 start on 20 July in mainland Europe

Announced four weeks after the start of ordering for the limited ID.3 1ST for pre-bookers, the range will cover seven additional trims, on top of basic models, and two battery sizes. Prices start from €35,574.95 – before incentives such as the €9,480 environmental bonus in Germany are taken into account – but with a sub €30k ‘Pure’ lower-range version to arrive a few months later. Pricing and specs for the UK will be announced in coming weeks.

Trim levels in Europe cover Life, Style, Business, Family, Tech, Max and Tour. All bar the Tour version are based on the basic ID.3 Pro Performance model, which features a 204hp motor on the rear axle, giving a 0-60km/h time of 3.4 seconds. The 58kWh battery provides a WLTP-rated range of 420km. Deliveries of these models start in October.

The basic ID.3 ProPerformance leads in the range and costs €35,574.95. Features include navigation, adaptive cruise control and wireless charging.

The Life is priced from €37,787.72 and adds in comfort features including steering wheel heating, seat heating and two additional USB-C ports.

The Style model does what the name suggests and adds in a design package including matrix LED headlamps, LED tail lights with dynamic swiping function, and panoramic glass roof. It’s priced from €40,946.04.

Both style and comfort features are included in the ID.3 Business; it adds in matrix LED headlamps and tinted windows, comfort package and assistant package with rear-view camera and keyless access from €41,287.22.

The Family version comes in from €42,305.87 and carries over the matrix LED headlamps and keyless access, but also providing a large panoramic glass roof, enhanced air con and rear-view camera.

Augmented and assisted driving features major in the Tech model and include travel assist, side assist and emergency assist as well as an infotainment package including head-up display and premium sound package for €44,810.

Prices for the Max version start from €43,680.32 and it includes an electric 12-way massage seat, progressive steering and dynamic cruise control.

At the top of the range, the Tour version is based on the ProS – a four-seat model that sits alongside the ID.3 Pro Performance at the base of the line-up but with a larger 77kWh battery for a longer range of up to 550km and featuring 125kW DC charging. The ProS is priced at €40,936.31 but the Tour – available from €45,917.48 – adds in head-up display and sound package, matrix LED headlamps, comfort package, 12-way massage seat and assistant package plus all driver assistance systems and 19-inch aluminium wheels.

Depending on the market, customers can also access the concessionary We Charge tariff for three years at no additional cost with full access to public charging stations in Europe, including the Ionity rapid charging network.
