2022 Range Rover on sale with PHEVs and seven seats
The new Range Rover is available to order now, including plug-in hybrid versions and with a fully electric model due 2024.
Now in its fifth generation, the Range Rover is priced from £94,400 in the UK and built on the new MLA-Flex platform. This enables it to offer Standard and Long Wheelbase body styles with luxurious four, five or seven-seat interiors and a range of electrified powertrains – two major firsts for the model.
A pair of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrains are available from launch – the 440hp P440e and 510hp P510e. Both team up Land Rover’s in-line six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with a 38.2kWh lithium-ion battery– and a 143hp electric motor integrated with the transmission. The result is CO2 emissions below 30g/km, with a pure-electric driving range of up to 100km (62 miles), delivering an expected real-world range of up to 80km (50 miles). Land Rover says this is enough for typical Range Rover customers to complete up to 75% of trips using electric power only.
The launch line-up also includes P400 Ingenium petrol and D300 and D350 diesel engines, along with the P530 Twin Turbo V8 petrol flagship, which is 17% more efficient than the previous Range Rover V8.
A fully electric Range Rover will launch in 2024; the first in an all-electric line-up of Land Rovers under its new Reimagine strategy. By 2030, the plan is for around 60% of Land Rovers sold globally to be equipped with zero tailpipe powertrains.
Three trim levels are available: SE, HSE and Autobiography. A First Edition will be available throughout the first year of production, based on the Autobiography and featuring a unique specification.
Both Standard (SWB) or Long Wheelbase (LWB) body designs are available with five seats, while the LWB model is available with a third row, providing transport for up to seven adults.
Highlights of the new model include Integrated Chassis Control with Dynamic Response Pro, designed to provide supreme ride comfort using Electronic Air Suspension that primes the vehicle for corners using eHorizon data.
All-Wheel Steering comes as standard and combines superior high-speed stability with exceptional manoeuvrability at low speeds – along a turning circle of less than 11m.
The Range Rover also features built-in Amazon Alexa, designed to minimise distractions by recognising intuitive verbal commands for music, navigation and traffic updates, smart home devices and others.
A new Cabin Air Purification Pro also debuts and features PM2.5 filtration and nanoe X technology, helping to significantly reduce bacteria and allergens including SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Later in 2022, the new Range Rover SV will arrive; also available in both SWB and LWB body designs, and with exclusive features including new SV Serenity and SV Intrepid design themes and a four-seat SV Signature Suite configuration. It will be available with the new P530 V8 Twin Turbo, P510e Extended Range plug-in hybrid (in SWB guise) and the D350 straight-six Ingenium diesel.
