ABAX appoints David Norton as CFO
David Norton, ex Fleetmatics senior finance executive, has joined Norwegian telematics company ABAX as its chief financial officer.
Norton spent 10 years as the director of finance & administration EMEA/APAC at Fleetmatics and was involved in the GPS vehicle tracking start-up through to the company’s IPO on the New York Stock exchange in 2012, which raised $132m (€106.9m) and the eventual sale to US telecom giant Verizon in 2016 for $2.4bn (€1.9bn). Recently, he was working as CFO at Irish Ed Tech company Shaw Academy, the leading provider of online education to global students.
In his new role, Norton will be based at ABAX’s global HQ in Larvik, Norway and will oversee all financial aspects of the business globally.
Commenting on Norton’s appointment, Bjørn Erik Helgeland, chief operating officer in ABAX Group said: “He brings with him extensive experience of leading finance functions across the international financial telematics industry. This is also an important part of our strategic efforts to maintain and strengthen our position in the market. Together with the board and the wider executive team, I look forward to working with him.”
“I’m very excited about this opportunity, and continuing the amazing growth trajectory at ABAX, and being able to help shape the journey,” added Norton.
