The Norwegian-owned company, which established in the UK in 2012, offers products including fleet management software, mileage capture technology and equipment monitoring devices.

The purchase of Trevler reinforces ABAX’s ambition to strengthen its presence in Europe.

With a turnover of £23.5m in 2014, ABAX employs around 200 people at it offices in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and the UK.

ABAX chief executive Peter Quinsgard said: "By attracting Trevler we have every confidence to grow into the biggest provider of vehicle solutions in the Netherlands. We are looking to rival companies like TomTom, and with the acquisition of Trevler we now own more than a quarter of the Dutch market. We look forward to the new journey for ABAX in the Netherlands."

The UK office is going from strength to strength with the number of employees at its Peterborough base doubling since the start of the year.

ABAX UK managing director Frank Ystenes added: "ABAX has always been a forward thinking, dynamic company. Our presence in the Dutch market will help support ABAX’s growth ambitions in the UK which has recently seen us secure a large contract with an engineering company."
