AI platform launches to transform damage management for fleets

A new platform that uses AI-powered detection to help automotive companies and fleets transform their damage-related processes has launched.

Wondle’s new AI-powered platform offers new ways to capture, record and price minor damage on vehicles

Developed by London-based startup Wondle, the new solution offers new ways to capture, record and price minor damage on vehicles and is aimed at applications in rental, leasing, accident management, corporate fleets and direct consumer usage.

The platform requires no app download, works off all major smartphones and has been designed for use by the general public, meaning no expertise is required to produce professional-grade vehicle condition reports. This ensures traditional inspections and paper-based processes needing employees or technicians can be reduced, cutting queries and complaints.

Wondle utilises artificial intelligence in the form of computer vision to analyse images and detect and annotate the images. Proprietary algorithms then translate into estimates for leasing/rental company damage charges to educate and inform customers. The platform also offers the option to add a damage repair module, giving access to a fully guaranteed SMART repair UK network.

It’s the brainchild of two former automotive executives who will be familiar names to many in the fleet sector. Matt Cranny was previously UK operations and leasing director at ARI UK (now rebranded as Holman) and also spent nearly 15 years at LeasePlan, including his most recent role as operations and service director.

He’s joined by follow co-founder Simon Carr, whose background includes nearly four years as chief commercial officer at Alphabet GB and over a decade at LeasePlan.

The platform is supported by powerful reporting capabilities to enable a true understanding of the trend patterns of damage within a fleet

The duo have founded Wondle to overhaul current damage reporting practices and say their platform provides new possibilities for automotive businesses to operate remotely cost-effectively.

Matt Cranny commented: “From years on the inside of the automotive industry we knew that minor damage on vehicles is the cause of so much time, cost and customer unhappiness. We wanted to fix that, for everyone involved; with the launch of Wondle, we can truly promise that ‘Damage does not have to be damaging’.”

The Wondle platform is supported by powerful reporting capabilities to enable a true understanding of the trend patterns of damage within a fleet. This enables data-driven insight to inform decisions on operations and commercial topics, something unavailable from paper-based models.

Simon Carr added: “Many mobility businesses, large and small, feel the pain of minor and cosmetic damage. It wasn’t working for anyone involved, including customers, and it needed a good answer. Wondle is that answer.”
