Aviva and Zego team up on data-led fleet insurance solutions

Insurance giant Aviva and insurtech Zego are partnering to offer tailored data-led fleet policies to trades and haulage businesses in the UK, saving operators time and money.

Through the tie-up, both usage-based and flat-rate insurance policies will be available to fleets in the UK running between five and 500 vehicles

The multi-year partnership will combine Zego’s behaviour-led data and telematics  capabilities with Aviva’s underwriting and claims expertise. The focus is on bringing a fair and flexible approach to fleet insurance that can adapt to customers’ changing needs.

Through the tie-up, both usage-based and flat-rate policies will be available to fleets in the UK running between five and 500 vehicles.

Usage-based policies, where insurance is only paid whilst a vehicle is in use, have been a lifeline to many fleets throughout the pandemic.

But for fleets that are in constant demand, drive high mileage or simply want to pay a fixed premium per month, flat-rate policies are more preferential and will also be offered under the partnership. These provide a consistent monthly cost and, as with usage-based policies, access to a fleet portal that allows fleet managers to easily add and remove drivers, monitor claims and receive 24/7 actionable insights.

Both policies can help fleets cut admin time and can also dramatically reduce premiums at renewal if the behaviour-led advisories are followed.

Maria Crockart, digital trading and automation director at Aviva, said: “Working with Zego builds on our telematics knowledge with a partner who has a proven track record using data and analytics. We look forward to developing tailored propositions aligned to customer usage and we anticipate that the relationship will broaden to include other insurance products in the future.”

It’s the latest work by Zego to continue its growth trajectory and follows its recent announcement of significant international expansion, launching in the Netherlands and ramping up operations in France.

Sten Saar, CEO at Zego, said: “We believe this usage-based, data-led approach is the future of the insurance market and we are proud to be leading the way by partnering with Aviva to deliver this to trades and haulage customers.”
