The latest strategic alliance is based on the firms’ previous pact and will jointly serve more than 150 global clients across 44 countries with sustainable mobility solutions.

The global alliance also includes Mitsubishi Auto Leasing Corporation, established with ALD Automotive and Wheels in 2020, and extends global coverage for automotive leasing and fleet management services to global corporations in Japan.

Now, with its direct presence and through additional alliances with ABSA in South Africa, Autocorp in Latam, Arrend Leasing in Central America, Shouqi in China and SG Fleet in Australia and New Zealand, Ayvens and Wheels provide customers with access to 58 countries.

ALD successfully closed its €4.8bn (£4.0bn) acquisition of LeasePlan in May 2023, creating a leading global sustainable mobility player rebranded as Ayvens and with a total managed fleet of 3.4 million vehicles worldwide as of August 2024.

The alliance with Wheels, one of the largest fleet management and mobility solutions providers in North America, will support global clients with an international framework of consistent practices and processes worldwide to help them manage their mobility needs.

Services include global account management and reporting solutions to provide an end-to-end approach, from data-driven strategy design, supported by a 4.3-million-vehicle database, to implementation and monitoring.

The alliance also provides a coordinated consultancy proposition with a network of consultants across the globe, working with the same data-driven methodology and tools to support clients wherever they need mobility expertise.

Tim Albertsen, group CEO of Ayvens, said: “Signing this strategic alliance with Wheels, with its leadership position in North America, and our broad coverage through our direct or indirect presence, further strengthens our position as the #1 global multi-brand and multi-channel player, and allows the alliance to deliver an unmatched level of global support and expertise to corporations worldwide. Our joint goal is to help our clients address their global challenges with the best mobility strategies and services possible.”

Shlomo Crandus, CEO of Wheels, said of the alliance: “By combining expertise, resources, intuitive digital solutions, and a focus on trusted relationships we deliver exceptional results. In this diverse, dynamic environment, our alliance enables us to respond quickly and intelligently in key areas such as safety, electrification and connectivity, helping our clients thrive.”
