Belgium and Netherlands bring mixed results for true fleet market

Within Belgium, after a really solid first quarter with a growth of 5.7% the true fleet market saw a strong result in April. Compared to April 2015 the registrations rose by 11.2% (while the private market rose 4.5%).

BMW remained in the lead in the fleet market but the most impressive growth rates within the top 10 brands in fleet were achieved by Peugeot in sixth position (+29.3%), Renault (second, +28.4%) and Opel (10th, +27.8%). Toyota in 13th place showed a remarkable increase of 61.5% mainly caused by Aygo (leading the segment of Mini Cars) and Yaris.

There was a lot of movement within the model ranking: the Renault Scenic took the lead (after being third in April last year) followed by Audi A4 (rank number 16 in April 2015) and Peugeot 308 (rank number nine one year ago).

In the Netherlands, Dataforce reported an acceleration in progress for the true fleet market after a difficult start. Due to a change of CO2 taxation as of 1 January 2016 the fleet market in the Netherlands expanded massively in the second half of 2015 and was consequently very weak at the beginning of 2016. But figures are improving step by step: after a horrible loss of 29.4% in January the decline became smaller month by month with -8.1% in February, -6.4% in March and now -5.9% in April.

Volkswagen in the lead was the only brand within the top 10, achieving the same position as in the ranking of April 2015. All 10 brands had at least a double-digit rate of growth (or loss) which indicates how massive the shift of registrations was. BMW took over the second position followed by Renault, Volvo and Skoda.
