The updated model gains a 33kWh battery, which brings over a 50% range increase in the standard NEDC cycle to offer 300km instead of 190km for the previous 22kWh version.

In everyday conditions, BMW says this equates to 200km on one full battery charge.

Existing customers in selected markets will be able to have the new battery pack retrofitted to their 22kWh i3.

BMW will continue to offer the previous battery as part of the range line-up. In addition, the Range Extender model will still be available for both battery versions and now brings an additional range of 150km.
