Citroen opens first Experience Center in Asia as China sales rise sharply

The new venue is situated on the Nanjing Road in Shanghai and is the brand’s third company showcase worldwide, following the opening of the C42 on the Champs-Elysées in Paris in 2007 and the Citroen Experience Center in São Paulo, Brazil, last April.

Like other carmakers, PSA Peugeot Citroen is shifting its focus to emerging markets, in particular China, as the car market in Europe remains challenging.

The brand has said that it expects sales in China to make up 15% of its global sales by 2015, up from 11% in 2011. In particular it’s targeting the country’s luxury car buyers.

Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Company Ltd – PSA’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Corp – has reported an 8.2% rise in sales in China for 2012, outperforming the industry average.
