The first of Citroën’s “ë” branded vehicles for passengers, the ë-SpaceTourer joins the diesel SpaceTourer as a full-electric multi-person vehicle. The vehicle represents a milestone for full-electric travel, with large-volume passenger flexibility previously unavailable.

Range is rated as 230km per charge from the 50kWh battery pack, with support for up to 100kW rapid charging and therefore 0-80% charge in 30-minutes. The electric MPV also comes with a 32A cable, enabling 8 hour 0-100% charge times at a compatible 7.4kW Wallbox. In addition, there’s a a long-range 75kWh battery option enabling a range of up to 330km available on the two longer versions of the vehicle.

Three lengths will be available in Europe, with 4.6m, 4.95m and 5.3m to choose from. Despite its length, height has been kept low at 1.9m to better allow for parking under cover.

Performance comes via the 136hp electric motor with 260Nm torque, enabling a top speed of up to 80mph. Normal, Eco and Power options allow the driver to eke the most out of the range.

Four trim levels, “Feel”, “Shine”, “Business” and “Business Lounge” will be available. Feel and Shine come as a seven or eight-seaters, with sliding seats on rails for ease of reconfiguring cargo and legroom. Business has seating for up to nine passengers, and is intended for passenger transport professionals. Configurable “à la carte” in terms of the seating configuration and equipment, it is a vehicle that is almost made-to-measure. Business Lounge is available as a 6-7 seater on the longest vans and is designed to be a mobile office, complete with retractable table.

Technologies include a segment-first head-up display, Top Rear Vision camera and Active Safety Brake. In addition, Driver Attention Alert and blind-spot monitoring system, as well as coffee break alert and collision risk alert should help improve driver safety and awareness.

Three connected packages include:

  • Connect Assist; with Assistance & SOS – which are able to send a message to the emergency services if needed. This package can also be used to connect to the MyCitroën app to check charge level, range, delay charging, pre-condition the interior, check the vehicle’s location, mileage and next service.
  • Connect Nav; features a 7-inch touchscreen, which can be controlled by voice. It is linked with TomTom Traffic and comes with free-of-charge (for three years) access to visual and audible warnings of danger areas and accident blackspots.
  • Connect Play; Mirror Screen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new ë-SpaceTourer is the latest in the line of Citroën’s electrification plans, following on from the launch of the new C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid, Ami and ë-Dispatch.

The Citroën ë-SpaceTourer will arrive in dealerships at the end of 2020, with pricing to be announced later in the year.
