CR-V & C4 Picasso get five-star Euro NCAP ratings
In the latest results, Honda’s CR-V gained a score of 93% for adult occupant tests, with figures of 74% for child occupant, 68% for pedestrian safety and 66% for safety assist. Commenting on the adult occupant results, Euro NCAP said that in the side barrier impact, which represents the car being struck from the side by another vehicle, the CR-V scored maximum points with good protection of all body regions. It added that in the more severe side pole test, protection of the chest and abdomen was adequate and that of the head and pelvis was good.
Meanwhile, the Citroën C4 Picasso, which also achieved a five-star overall rating, gained an 86% result for adult occupant tests, with 88% for child occupant, 68% for pedestrian safety and 81% for safety assist. In the child occupant test, Euro NCAP said that based on dummy readings, the C4 Picasso scored maximum points for its protection of the three-year dummy in the dynamic tests
In addition Euro NCAP revealed two new Euro NCAP Advanced rewards for further Autonomous Emergency Braking systems.
This includes the Mitsubishi Forward Collision Mitigation, available on the Mitsubishi Outlander tested in 2012, which is a system aimed at alerting the driver to an imminent threat of rear end collision both at low and higher speed.
The other reward went to Fiat for the City Brake Control available as an option on the Panda and 500L, which provides the driver with a technology helping to avoid low-speed crashes, by optimising the braking autonomously if needed, according to Euro NCAP.
