Daimler Mobility Services has acquired German ridesharing start-up flinc GmbH for an undisclosed amount.

Flinc launched a platform for short-distance ride sharing in 2011, focused on real-time services. It currently has around half a million customers registered on the platform, which is now integrated into free floating carsharing platforms, local public transport apps and app-based navigation systems.
The acquisition furthers Daimler’s work on mobility services, including its investment earlier this month in US peer-to-peer car sharing startup Turo and last year’s acquisition of the Hailo taxi hailing app, which was merged into its Mytaxi e-hailing service.
Earlier this year, Daimler also announced that it is to make self-driving Mercedes-Benz vehicles for the Uber ride-sharing network under a new agreement. For more of the latest industry news, click here.
