DS 7 Crossback revealed

DS Automobiles has unveiled its DS 7 Crossback ahead of its Geneva Motor Show debut.

Design features a new diamond-effect grille, horizontal chrome DS Wings and Active LED Vision headlamps.

Providing a rival to models such as the Range Rover Evoque, the Crossback is based on a stretched version of the PSA Group’s EMP2 platform and will be offered with a plug-in hybrid petrol drivetrain with 300hp and 4WD, a new latest-generation Efficient Automatic Transmission with 8-speeds, a THP S&S 225hp engine and two electric motors.

The PHEV drivetrain offers a 60km range in zero emission mode and can be charged in 4.5 hours using standard mode or less than 2.5 hours using a fast charge.
 
Alongside the E-Tense hybrid, DS 7 Crossback will be offered with three petrol power units (THP 225 S&S EAT8, THP 180 S&S EAT8, PureTech 130 S&S 6-speed manual) and two diesel units (BlueHDi 130 S&S – with a choice of 6-speed manual or EAT8 – aand the BlueHDi 180 EAT8).
 
Design features a new diamond-effect grille, horizontal chrome DS Wings and Active LED Vision headlamps, which emit a purple light when DS 7 is unlocked, before pivoting by 180°.
 
The interior brings two 12-inch screens – one for accessing the navigation system and the multimedia interface, MirrorScreen and DS Connect functions while the other is a personalisable screen dedicated to the digital instrument cluster.
 
Four interior design themes – Bastille, Rivoli, and Opera and Performance Line – are available and offer features including leather finishes for the steering wheel and roof grab handles as well as the centre console.
 
DS 7 Crossback also uses premium decoration techniques such guillochage finishing technique from the premium watchmaking industry along with pearl stitching and also uses a B.R.M R180 clock from B.R.M Chronographs.
 
Driver assistance features include the DS Connected Pilot system with Stop & Go Active Cruise Control and the Crossback can also be specified with the DS Park Pilot technology, which parks the car in reverse or parallel to the kerb without manual use of the steering wheel or pedals. It also features the DS Night Vision system, which uses an infrared camera in the front grille identifies objects, pedestrians and animals on the road at a distance of up to 100m, and Driver Attention Monitoring which warns of signs of drowsiness.
 

In addition Active LED Vision offers six lighting modes: Parking, Town Beam, Country Beam, Motorway Beam, Adverse Beam and High Beam.

DS 7 Crossback also features a camera-scanning active suspension system that can identify any forthcoming bumps in the road and control the shock absorbers accordingly.

DS 7 Crossback launches in spring 2019.
