The service is primarily being rolled out in France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and the UK and will be expanded over the coming years through a network.

A total of 44 stations – mainly based near airport and railways stations for the leisure market – will be offered initially and a fleet of 6,000 vehicles including mini, economy, compact and mini van categories. Customers will be able to book online – at www.interrent.com – in just three steps.

InterRent director Jehan de Thé said: ‘In addition to a low-cost approach, we will offer a client experience based on innovation and quality of service. We plan to double the number of stations and to deploy InterRent outside Europe by 2014.’

Each rental includes 24h on-road assistance, the mandatory third-party liability insurance and additional coverage for theft and damages, potential options such as a baby seat, GPS, and extra drivers.
