Signatories have called on Member States to coordinate their response to the pandemic and to follow guidelines on border management

In a joint statement, more than 30 associations representing everything from transport and infrastructure managers, to workers in all transport modes and logistics, urged for action in a number of areas.

This includes calling on the Member States to enable smooth border crossings for freight transport, both intra-EU and with third countries.

Signatories, which include CLECAT, FTA and UETR, also urged Members States to coordinate their response to the Covid-19 pandemic and to follow the European Commission’s guidelines on border management.

They also highlighted the importance of protecting the health and safety of transport workers, notably through personal protective equipment, as well as access to clean and disinfected sanitary facilities, food and drinks.

Signatories have also highlighted that the transport and logistics sectors are based on a physical work force and called on the European Commission and the Member States to facilitate its mobility, including repatriation of the transport work force.
