EV loyalty app rewards drivers for charging station feedback
Electric vehicle drivers can now be rewarded for sharing vital real-time operational information on charging stations via an app, helping to improve the charging experience.
Already offered in Europe, where it has more than a thousand cooperation partners, the &Charge app is now launching in the UK to bring EV drivers and charge point operators (CPOs) together.
It’s been developed by Frankfurt-based technology company &Charge GmbH, a corporate member of EVA Scotland, and combines smart user engagement with value-added services around EV charging.
The company says its aim is to make charging more reliable and more enjoyable.
Simon Vogt, co-founder and chief sales officer of &Charge, commented: “Smart user engagement with value-added services around EV charging is a new and exciting development for the UK. We have created the &Charge platform that increases CPO uptime availability, decreases operational expense and boosts customer satisfaction.
“Receiving real-time information from those drivers using the stations is invaluable in providing instant notification of the need for maintenance services to reduce the downtime of chargers.”
Using the app, drivers can upload real-time experiences, including photographs showing the condition of charge stations, providing CPOs with valuable information on availability, performance and condition of their equipment.
Not only will EV drivers benefit from increased charge point uptime, but they will also earn ‘&Charge kilometres’, which can be used for reduced charging costs and access to online goods and services. CPOs providing free charging sessions include Hyundai (Charge myHyundai), Kia (Kia Charge), Octopus Energy Electric Universe, Plugsurfing and Maingau.
From 2023 onwards there will also be access to in-store services. Partners include more than 350 leading stores throughout the UK, such as AO, Marks & Spencer, Currys, Booking.com, JD, Zavvi, Hughes and Electrical Discount.
The service initially launches with UK partner Source London but &Charge said it had received “overwhelming support” and was in discussion with a number of key CPOs looking to explore opportunities.
