Launched in 2015 and built in Europe, the Tucson is one of the brand’s best-selling models.

Debuted at the New York International Auto Show, the facelifted model – which goes on sale in Europe this summer – brings a refreshed design including Hyundai’s cascading grille, full LED lights and a new bumper.

Global engine line-up brings a 186hp 2.0-litre diesel with four-wheel drive and standard six-speed manual transmission or the option of the new, eight-speed auto.

The range also introduces a pair of 1.6-litre diesels, which replace the previous 1.7-litre unit and offer 115 and 133hp. Both units are married up with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive with the option of Hyundai’s new seven-speed dual clutch transmission and either front or four-wheel drive for the higher-powered unit.

Petrol choices take the form of 132 and 177hp 1.6-litre T-GDI units. The lower-powered one offers six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive while the 177hp also gets the choice of the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive.

Equipment includes a wireless QI standard based mobile phone charger and a seven-inch information screen, supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity. Drivers can also opt for an eight-inch navigation system which offers 3D maps and a seven-year free subscription to LIVE Services including real-time info.

Active and driving assistance features available include autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, driver attention warning and speed limit indicator function.

Further information on the European launch will follow in the coming weeks.
