Fiat looks to consolidate market position with latest Scudo

The previous model had a 25% share of the commercial vehicle market in Europe & EFTA in 2012 and the new model looks to continue that.

On the outside, the latest Scudo features a new grille in line with the Ducato family while interior changes include a new dark grey dashboard with matching door panels, with grey velvet accents on Panorama people carrier versions as well as new instrument dials. In line with the Scudo’s common use as a shuttle for exclusive courtesy services, the Panorama versions also see other changes including the addition of the same fabric seats as the Executive.

The latest range also offers increased standard equipment with specific set-ups for different European countries. In addition to climate control and fog lights, standard equipment on Fiat Scudo SX goods carrier now includes cruise control, rear parking sensors, CD MP3 radio with steering wheel controls, Bluetooth and folding electric mirrors at the same price.

The range rationalisation programme also sees the Cargo (goods carrier) and Combi/Panorama (people carrier) versions renewed for Italy.

The full Scudo range includes Cargo, Combi and Panorama models and bases for conversions and special outfits.

Goods carrier versions are available in van and crew cab configurations (panelled, glazed and semi-glazed) with the following variants: two wheelbases (3.0m for the short version and 3.12m for the long version); two exterior lengths (4.8m and 5.13m); two exterior heights (1.94m and 2.28m) and two load compartment lengths (2.25m and 2.58m). There are three volumes (5m3, 6m3 and 7m3) and two payloads (1000 and 1200kg).

The new Scudo 2013 range includes a complete portfolio of people carriers. Three different outfits were created with specific uses and customers in mind: Combi, Panorama Family and Panorama Executive. The Combi is the ideal solution for getting work crews and their tools to and back from work. The Panorama Family/Executive is perfect for large families looking for the typical comfort and style of a minivan and for business customer services (such as hotel/airport shuttles, rentals with driver). The Fiat Scudo MY 2013 people carrier category features two wheelbases (3000 mm and 3122 mm), two exterior lengths (4805 and 5135 mm) and two 2.0 MultiJet turbo diesel engines (130 HP and 165 HP).

Models available for conversions include the Scudo chassis cowl with floor bed, ideal for creating vehicles perfectly compliant with specific needs: refrigerated vehicles, mobile shops, mini motorhomes, and more. It is available with a 3,122mm wheelbase and maximum load on front and rear axle of 1400kg and 1700kg, respectively.

The engine range features the 90hp 1.6 MultiJet, the 130hpP 2.0 MultiJet and the 165hp 2.0 MultiJet Power. All engines are Euro5-compliant and the two 2.0 MultiJet turbo diesel versions come with a six-speed gearbox.

The new model, which goes on sale with promotional part-exchange or scrapping incentive prices starting from € 14,200 (before tax).
