First of 50 Norwegian rapid chargers activated
A collaborative project between KIWI, Nissan, Renault and Volkswagen, the units offer an 80% charge in less than half an hour for compatible vehicles, and will be operated by Norwegian utility company Fortum.
Each site will offer three connections. CHAdeMo DC for Nissan, Mitsubishi and PSA’s electric cars, a Type 2 AC connection which can rapid charge the Renault ZOE or a slower top-up for most European models, and the new Combined Charging System DC plug used by Volkswagen and BMW.
Norway is one of the world's most advanced markets for plug-in vehicles, helped by large purchase incentives, access to bus lanes at peak commuting times and the ability to park and charge for free in many city centres.
