American EV start-up Fisker has announced more details of its Alaska fully electric pickup truck ahead of its launch in 2025.

The Fisker Alaska will launch in 2025 with an expandable bed design and a cowboy hat holder

Revealed earlier this month at the California-based automaker’s first-ever Product Vision Day, the Alaska is positioned as the company’s “everything” vehicle. Fisker says it will blend sporty handling and driving dynamics with luxury SUV comfort while also providing “the world’s most sustainable pickup”.

It will be priced from $45,400 (some £35,593), with two battery options of 75kWh and 113kWh. These will offer a range of 230 to 240 miles along with a 0-60mph time from 3.9 seconds, rising to 7.2 seconds depending on the variant.

Built on an extended adaptation of the FT31 platform used for the brand’s recently launched Ocean SUV, it’s designed for both sporty performance and practicality. Fisker says it’s also planning for the Alaska to be the world’s lightest electric pickup.

A total of 17.4ft (5.3m) in length, the Alaska will offer a cargo bed that can expand from 4.5 feet (1.4m) to 9.2 feet (2.8m) thanks to its ‘Houdini’ partition. Similar to the Houdini rear door for the Pear crossover also revealed at this month’s event, the partition behind the rear seats can be electronically lowered into space created by the battery layout of the platform. When the rear seats are folded down and the Houdini is lowered, the rear seats are protected by fold-up panels including a panel folding up behind the front seats.

Extra storage will also be available in an insulated front trunk while the cabin will come with a cupholder said to be the world’s largest, plus a cowboy hat holder, cockpit storage for work gloves, a large centre armrest with storage for torches and pens, and a passenger tray with a tablet holder. Wheels will be available in 20- and 22-inch sizes.

Chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said: “Alaska breaks with convention. It doesn’t fit into any current segment, as it combines features of a mid-size pickup with the capabilities of a full-size thanks to its innovative expandable bed design.”

Production of the Alaska is expected to start in Q1 of 2025. Customers in the US can reserve the vehicle at Fiskerinc.com for $250 for their first Alaska and fully refundable $100 for the second.
