Fisker ties with Cox and Rivus for 2023 UK launch of Ocean electric SUV
US-based EV company Fisker Inc has confirmed it will launch its Ocean electric SUV in the UK in 2023, backed by aftersales care and remarketing services provided through Rivus Fleet Solutions and Cox Automotive.
Revealed online earlier this year, the Ocean luxury SUV is billed as the world’s most sustainable vehicle and is due to launch globally from Q4 2022, produced for Europe by Magna.
Many details of the Ocean are yet to be revealed but Fisker has said it will deliver class-leading range, high performance and the ability to seat seven in three rows.
The base Fisker Ocean will be rear-wheel drive and performance numbers will be announced in 2021 while four-wheel drive models will deliver an output of more than 300hp. Details of a limited-edition high-performance version targeting zero to 60mph in less than three seconds with a total power output will be announced in 2021.
It will be backed by a network of ‘consumer experience centers’ opening in major global cities from 2021, including one in London that’s projected to open in 2022.
Fisker has now said it’s planning on making the UK one of the first markets to launch the Ocean and has outsourced areas such as vehicle delivery, servicing and maintenance, fleet management, mobile fleet servicing, valuation, trade-in, refurbishment and remarketing to Cox and Rivus, including its customer experience plans for direct vehicle delivery and automatic pickup of the vehicle for servicing.
The announcement comes some three weeks after the UK confirmed plans to phase out sales of new petrol and diesel cars/vans from 2030.
“In creating Fisker as a company focused on both product and ownership experience breakthroughs, partnerships with the world’s leading service providers are an essential element to deliver that vision,” said Fisker chairman and chief executive officer Henrik Fisker. “With recent UK government announcements related to electric vehicles, we believe Fisker will be well placed and well timed to make significant progress in this important market, supported by Cox and Rivus as essential delivery partners.”
Both Cox and Rivus said the tie-up would draw upon their latest services, including investments in EV infrastructure.
Rivus managing director Michael Scheidler added: “Our customer service operation and vehicle technicians are experts in supporting vehicles of this type – so Fisker customers can always be confident of a great experience from Rivus Fleet Solutions.”
