Fleet Logistics launches new driver app for European fleets
The "Fleet Logistics Mobility Control App" is now available for all users of Windows smart phones on Fleet Logistics’ fleet of around 130,000 vehicles across Europe. They are soon to be joined by users of all Android and Apple smart phones.
The app provides a platform through which the driver can communicate with Fleet Logistics, keep their mileage records up-to-date, access details about preferred suppliers and find answers to frequently asked questions at any time of the day or night.
One of Fleet Logistics’ objectives with the introduction of the app was to improve the quality of driver data that is entered into the system, as improved data quality leads to a reduction in costs, improvement in productivity and an acceleration in the speed to the market.
The app also allows Fleet Logistics to communicate directly with drivers via broadcast messaging and to push out important communications or hot topics to drivers, such as the need to switch to winter tyres for example.
The app provides drivers with direct online access to data that is also held within the Fleet.Online driver portal, and they can see relevant details about themselves and their vehicles through either the app or the online portal.
Available is information about suppliers, including leasing company and other suppliers, vehicle costs, the tax situation for the vehicle and all company fleet policy information.
Drivers are also provided with details of what to do in the event of an emergency such as a breakdown, as well as holding all service provider and insurance company details, and provides clear, concise instructions on how to access these services.
The app now becomes an integral part of the Fleet.Online module and will be made available directly to clients through, and as an extension to, the module. The new app is available in all markets in which Fleet Logistics operates and in all the languages of those markets.
The new service has been developed in response to client requests and particularly because smart phones are increasingly becoming the medium of first choice for drivers out in the field and away from the office.
It took around four months to develop in a combined project with a small development team comprising internal staff, external developers and fleet clients, a combination which made the development effective and time-efficient.
The first roll-out of the new app will take place later with month with two large international fleet clients. Drivers will be informed by email with full details of how they can access and download the app to their smart phones.
The next phase will be rolled-out to fleet clients which operate Windows smart phones, followed, in quarter three and four, by those clients who use iPhones and Android devices, along with any other clients who want to benefit from having use of the app.
Rainer Laber, CEO of Fleet Logistics, said: ‘This new driver app helps take our communication with drivers to another level, as well as providing them with easy and instant access to the information and data they need in relation to their company vehicle, at all times of the day or night.
‘We believe that the development of driver services in this way is a major advantage for our clients as it helps improve communication, captures mileage more effectively and accurately, improves the quality of the data and is completely compatible with all the very latest technological advances.’
