Hotpoint UK has deployed Ford E-Transit electric vans to boost productivity and help meet its own sustainability targets.

Hotpoint UK’s 850-strong van fleet now includes 40 electric E-Transits

As with thousands of businesses across Europe, the home appliance specialist is adopting connected and electrified vehicles and its 850-strong van fleet now includes 40 electric E-Transits.

The business trialled electric vans from across the sector with input from the service engineers, and fleet operations manager Cole Pemberton said the E-Transit proved the perfect tool for the job.

“It’s the right size to carry tools and appliances – a task made easier with racking solutions from Sortimo, an approved Ford Pro Convertor – while still being easy to drive in built-up areas,” he explained

Hotpoint appliance engineers can cover 100 miles in a typical day travelling between multiple appointments, which means driving range and charging are key considerations.

Pemberton can remotely divert his engineers towards chargers using the Ford Pro E-Telematics software, which provides a wealth of real-time data to help keep the fleet running efficiently and ensuring maximum uptime.

The vehicles have also gone down well with drivers, including for their on-road comfort and the efficient and quiet electric powertrain as well as for the extensive onboard features, such as the reversing camera, which makes their “lives easier on the road”.

Hotpoint UK has also shared its experiences of going from diesel vans to electric and how it’s tackled charging challenges and brought drivers in on its EV journey in a video.

Ford meanwhile will be at next week’s Great British Fleet Event on 17 April in Milton Keynes as part of its 2024 ‘Go Electric’ Roadshow. Ford experts will be on hand at GBFE to  demystify the Ford Electrified commercial vehicle range, addressing any questions or concerns about switching to electrified cars and vans.
