Ford has revealed its new Tourneo Connect MPV, which introduces new connected tech along with expected class‑leading fuel efficiency and the debut of all-wheel drive.

The new Tourneo Connect provides seven-seat capability, available in two versatile length options, and a line-up of three distinctive trims

Available to order in Europe in early 2022, the new model is again targeted at both private drivers and businesses, and continues to offer seven-seat capability, available on both short‑wheelbase L1 and long‑wheelbase L2 models.

To support its use for work or leisure, the second and third seat rows can be folded, tumbled or removed when not needed while the front passenger seat folds flat, enabling items up to 3m long to be transported.

With the second and third row seating removed, up to 3.1m3 of load volume are available in L2 models and 2.6m3 in L1 models. The Tourneo Connect also provides maximum load lengths of 2,265mm behind the first row of seats, 1,452mm behind the second, and 629mm behind the third for L2 variants. These figures stand at 1,913mm, 1100mm and 317mm for L1 variants.

Revamped exterior design is based on the design language of Ford’s latest passenger cars, and all trims – Active, Titanium and Sport – offer strong differentiation.

The new interior features large sliding side doors on each side of the vehicle along with an array of cup holders, cubbies and charging ports, and optional panoramic glass roof and dual‑zone climate control.

The cabin also introduces the latest digital cockpit technologies. An 8.25-inch infotainment touchscreen comes as standard while on right-hand drive models a 10-inch screen is the default. Vehicles with the latter feature a FordPass Connect modem to help customers stay connected while on the road and customers can also remotely access information using smartphone apps.

An advanced digital cluster display with a 10.25-inch screen is also available in place of the traditional dials – it’s standard on Sport models and available on Titanium and Active models.

A total of 19 driver assistance features are available on the new Tourneo Connect. Standard tech includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, driver alert, cruise control, adjustable speed limiting system, hill start assist and front and rear parking sensors.

Also available are adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind spot information system and cross traffic alert, while Tourneo Connect models equipped with the PowerShift automatic transmission can also be specified with intelligent adaptive cruise control with lane centring.

The all-new Tourneo Connect also introduces new driver assistance technology bundles in the form of a Parking Pack and Towing Assist Pack.

The engine line-up is expected to deliver class‑leading efficiency for the new Tourneo Connect, with anticipated fuel consumption up to 57.6mpg and CO2 emissions from 127g/km. As well as bringing all-wheel drive to the multi‑activity vehicle for the first time, the powertrain range also features an automatic transmission option for both petrol and diesel engines available on all length variants.

The line-up starts with the 114hp 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol and also includes two EcoBlue 2.0-litre diesels with 102 and 122hp. Auto Start-Stop technology is standard across the range.

All models feature a six-speed manual transmission as standard and the sole petrol and the higher-powered diesel can also be specified with Ford’s seven‑speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which also comes with wheel-mounted paddles and a Sport mode.

Customers can now benefit from all-wheel drive for the first time on Tourneo Connect to increase traction on loose and slippery surfaces for more confident driving. The system automatically distributes torque between the wheels depending on driving conditions and surfaces, helping drivers maintain progress in more challenging conditions.

All-wheel drive is available on models fitted with the 122hp EcoBlue diesel engine and six‑speed manual gearbox, with projected CO2 emissions of 139-159g/km and WLTP fuel efficiency of 46.3-53.2mpg.

First customer deliveries are set to start in spring 2022.
