At the same time, the carmaker has reaffirmed its plans to target younger customers, adding that the compact premium segment is forecast for significant growth with the entry of young-minded affluent customers.

‘We are becoming the younger, trendsetting brand, more relevant and more exciting,’ said Johan de Nysschen, president of Infiniti Motor Company, Ltd. ‘Infiniti
Q50, and now the Q30 Concept, deliver on this promise.’

Combining coupe, hatch and crossover design features, the Q30 previews the brand’s entry into this segment. The new model will be produced in Sunderland in the UK, starting in 2015.

The model marks a move to bolder, more masculine styling under the helm of executive design director Alfonso Albaisam, and will be underpinned by the Mercedes MFA platform used for the A-Class and B-Class, with powertrains also being sourced from Mercedes.

In addition to unveiling the Q30 Concept, de Nysschen announced the start of sales for the new Infiniti Q50 sports saloon in Europe. The vehicle will go on sale as of mid-November.
