Free2move completes acquisition of Share Now
Stellantis’ Free2move division has completed the acquisition of BMW and Mercedes’ joint car sharing company Share Now, advancing its “aggressive growth plan”.
The deal, announced this spring, will enable Free2move to expand its mobility hubs concept to 14 new cities in Europe, while adding 10,000 vehicles to its existing car sharing fleet of 2,500 vehicles.
Free2move said it was a key step in its mission to simplify customer mobility and marks a major step towards the Stellantis Dare Forward 2030 goal of growing Free2move’s profitable mobility service. The Free2move service now covers 32 European and US mobility hubs.
“We are very enthusiastic about the new chapter we are about to write with Share Now, the European leader in free-floating car-sharing,” said Brigitte Courtehoux, Free2move CEO. “Free2move and Share Now are very complementary and our joint expertise now grants us the savoir-faire to truly innovate in the worldwide mobility market. I offer a very warm welcome to every Share Now colleague as they join the Free2move family.”
The deal, which will see Share Now’s executive management team remain in place, is also expected to open new synergies and enhance the profitability of the two companies.
“We are very happy to join Free2move,” said Olivier Reppert, CEO Share Now. “We will keep moving forward together to meet our customers’ expectations for increasingly sustainable, innovative and flexible mobility.”
