Future Kia and Hyundai vehicles could come with foldable e-scooter
A new on-board e-scooter could be featured on future Hyundai and Kia vehicles to enable first and last-mile mobility.
Hyundai Motor Group has already developed a prototype of the foldable, lightweight scooter, which would be mounted on the vehicle and automatically charged through electricity produced by driving. The scooter features a 10.5 Ah lithium battery, enabling a 12-mile range, plus 12mph top speed. Future development could see a regenerative braking system installed to increase the scooter’s range by 7%.
DongJin Hyun, head of Hyundai Motor Group Robotics Team, said: “We want to make our customers’ lives as easy and enjoyable as possible. Our personal electric scooter makes first and last-mile commuting a joy, while helping to reduce congestion and emissions in city centres.”
