The model, which goes on sale from spring this year, features a subtle makeover, with new brand chevrons and bumper-mounted LED daytime running lights at the frong as well as revised tail lights and softer curves.

Citroen also promises a more comfortable interior with well-crafted, top-quality materials and new, warmer upholstery. New technological features will also be present and include the Zenith windscreen to give claimed best-in-class visibility, as well as a reversing camera with parking aid sensors.

Five diesel engines wil be offered – the HDi 70, e-HDi 70, HDi 90, e- HDi 90 and e-HDi 115 – with the e-HDi versions offering the most Stop&Start system on the market, according to the carmaker. CO2 emissions are as low as 87g/km for the e-HDi 70.

There will also be new-generation three-cylinder PureTech petrol engines, in 1 or 1.2-litre version. These deliver 15% more power and a 25% cut in fuel consumption, with the VTi 68 and VTi 82 engines offering between 4.3 and 4.5 l/100 km, and CO2 emissions of 99 to 104g/km.
