Geneva News: Kia pro_cee'd GT hot hatch & cee'd GT to make debut

The models, based on the standard pro_cee'd and cee'd versions, will feature a turbocharged 1.6-litre GDI petrol engine producing 201bhp and 195lb.ft of torque married up to a six-speed manual, giving a 0-62mph time of 7.9 seconds. No details of any chassis changes have been given yet.

Both models get a makeover under the direction of chief design officer Peter Schreyer and feature, more aggressive styling along with LED daytime running lights, dual-exhaust pipes, Recaro seating, 18-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers.

Production begins at Kia's Zilina plant in Slovakia in mid-May, with the pro_cee'd GT set to go sale in the UK from the middle of the year and the cee'd GT counterpart towards the end of 2013.

Prices and specifications will be confirmed closer to the on-sale dates.
