Gurtam hits landmark of 3.8 million vehicles connected on Wialon platform

Wialon, the global telematics, fleet management and IoT platform powered by European software developer Gurtam, has reached a landmark 3.8 million vehicles connected, spread across over 150 countries.

Over more than two decades, Gurtam has powered over 300,000 telematics and IoT projects implemented worldwide by its partner companies

The landmark comes just six months after Wialon reached the 3.6 million milestone and gives it a significant 4% global market share while further highlighting soaring business demand to connect and track vehicles and assets using innovative, reliable and user-friendly technology solutions.

Wialon works worldwide through a network of over 2,500 partners and serves as a tool to digitise fleets and improve performance in key sectors including vehicle rental and leasing and cold-chain transportation, but also logistics and shipping and security, among others.

The new landmark follows hot on the heels of Wialon’s annual Telematics and IoT global conference, hosted by Gurtam and held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 6-8 December.

The flagship event for the telematics, IoT and fleet software community brought together around 200 experts from 50 countries to discuss hot topics including AI innovation, the transition to EVs and net-zero, and breakthrough use cases.

Commenting from the conference, Aliaksei Shchurko, CEO of Gurtam, said: “Alongside our partners, together, we have created a vibrant telematics ecosystem that continues to thrive year-on-year. We have seen remarkable growth this year, with Wialon for instance increasing the number of connected vehicles worldwide by more than 10%.

“Looking towards the future, we are expecting to see even further growth in specialised and vehicle focused telematics, particularly when it comes to developments in AI.

“The rise of AI will change everything, and businesses will have to adapt to maximise the opportunities to source information faster, make decisions quicker and drive further efficiencies in how they work. Crucially though, the success of its application to the telematics sector relies on the industry putting more knowledge back into AI models, to supercharge its utility. From classification and automated pattern extraction, to generating predictions on anticipated vehicle requirements and maintenance, or fine-tuning the ability to distinguish and classify harsh driving from green driving, AI promises to simplify tedious processes and transform employee and platform experience.”

Over more than two decades of developing software for GPS tracking, fleet management and IoT applications, Gurtam has powered over 300,000 telematics and IoT projects implemented worldwide by its partner companies – telematics service providers and fleet solutions providers.

Earlier this year, Wialon revealed plans to growth its presence further – in the UK and globally – supported by fast-paced developments in the commercial telematics market.

The global vehicle telematics market was worth US$72.85bn in 2022, and is anticipated to rise from US$85.36bn in 2023 to US$280.78bn by 2030. The surging demand is served by software developers such as Gurtam, which underpins and connects the business capabilities of telematics and fleet management service providers, GPS and sensor hardware manufacturers, and connectivity providers.

Aliaksandr Kuushynau, head of Wialon at Gurtam

Aliaksandr Kuushynau, head of Wialon, said: “As fleet managers face challenges revolving around three main pillars: safety, compliance and cost-efficiency, our partners – telematics service providers – play a pivotal role in ensuring the success of fleet operations.

“At Wialon, our success stories range from optimising the operations of local delivery services, to steering the efficiency of massive logistics networks. Wialon transcends being just a tracking solution; it’s a versatile tool adaptable to the distinct needs of every sector, and the diversity in size of fleets, in geographical cover or in industry and sector is an indicator of the scalability of our solutions and our partners’ services.

“We take great pride in fostering a vibrant partner community, a space where ideas flow, experiences are shared, and collaborations thrive.”
