Currently senior director global customer service Asia Pacific operations, Mr Hygrell has spent the last three years at Volvo Cars’ Shanghai office and joined Volvo in 1995.

In his new role, he replaces Sebastian Fuchs, who joined RMS Automotive earlier this year as senior director sales and marketing Europe, and will report to Senior director global retail operations, Keith Schäfer.

His appointment comes as Volvo rolls out its ‘Selekt’ certified used car programme as part of its continued global transformation.

Mr Hygrell said: “Throughout my career with Volvo I have been able to work closely with our network of dealers in order to improve their businesses by increasing the levels of customer satisfaction.

“Utilising the experience gained from various customer service-focused positions, I will concentrate on strengthening the capabilities for Volvo Cars and its dealers to successfully manage a growing used car operation. This includes developing strategies on how to handle growing used car volumes and advanced new car technologies. We are also in the middle of a global roll-out of our new system platform for wholesale and retail business management, so it’s a very exciting time for me to join the global used car team.”
