Honda Europe president provides a glimpse of what to expect for 2012 in Geneva
After last years natural disasters in both Japan and Thailand, such affected the supply of new vehicles to customers outside of the country. It was announced in Geneva that production at Honda's Thailand manufacturing plant has once again resumed and the company is already planning ahead for the coming year with several exciting vehicles expected to join the busy line-up.
It was also announced at the event that Honda expects to double UK factory production volumes to 180,000 units, with the new Civic assembly line starting in May. With Honda announcing the start of a double shift at the plant, up to 500 new jobs will be generated, giving the UK economy a much needed boost.
It was announced that production of the all-new CR-V will begin later in the year and built in Europe. Set to provide all new features tailored for the European market, improved fuel efficiency and improved performance – Honda will showcase the production version of the CR-V at the Paris Motor Show this September.
Details of Honda's new fuel-efficient 1.6l i-Dtec engine were also announced by Mr Nishimae, as well as plans to launch the sporty NSX in Europe as part of the Honda brand.
