Hyundai i30 reaches European sales milestone
More than half a million units of i30 have been sold in Europe since the first-generation model went on sale in 2007. This success has been the driving force behind the model’s global achievements, which also surpassed 1m sales recently. In the UK, the i30 is also one of the brand’s most popular models having sold just over 59,000 units since 2007.
The New Generation i30, along with the majority of the original i30, is produced at Hyundai’s award-winning manufacturing facility in Nošovice, Czech Republic, which opened in 2008. To date, the factory has produced more than half a million units of i30, which are exported to 60 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australasia, the Caribbean and the USA (under the Elantra GT nameplate).
Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and chief operative officer of Hyundai Motor Europe, commented: ‘Since launch in 2007, the i30 has become the centre of gravity for our brand in Europe. It was our first car to de designed and made here, offering customers high quality, low emissions and great value – characteristics now synonymous with the Hyundai brand.’
In addition to being built in Europe, both original and New Generation i30 were designed and developed at Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre, and feature Hyundai’s Europe-developed design language, fluidic sculpture. The New Generation i30 family has expanded recently to include the 3 door version, which adds further sporting flair to the qualities of its Hatchback and Tourer siblings.
According to the latest November sales figures, the New Generation i30, along with the New i20 and ix35, are the best selling models in Europe. New Generation i30 accounted for 24% of sales in November with 9,014 units sold out of a total of 37,000 units across the region for the month.
Like all newly-launched models in the region, the New Generation i30 comes with the reassurance of Hyundai’s industry-leading 5 Year Triple Care package, which gives customers a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.
