Hyundai reveals Genesis at Detroit
The new model is the first Hyundai to display Fluidic Sculpture 2.0, the second-generation of the company’s design signature, which will also be seen on the Sonata sedan that debuts later this year.
The Genesis is nearly five metres long and has a three-metre wheelbase, making it similar in size to both the Audi A8 and new Mercedes S-Class.
Key design elements include a striking hexagonal front grille as a key geometric element, a dynamic crease accent running along the flanks of the car and jewelled, full-LED tail lamps.
The 2015 Hyundai Genesis receives a redesigned platform to accommodate its HTRAC AWD system, marking the system’s debut – rear-wheel drive is also available – with a new, stiffer chassis and all-new rear multi-link suspension, with newly optimised 5-link geometry and increased suspension travel. The engine line-up starts with a 311bhp 3.8-litre V6 petrol.
Advanced features include Blind Spot Detection system with integrated Head-Up Display, Lane Keeping Assist System, Automatic Emergency Braking and radar-controlled Advanced Smart Cruise Control. Hands-free trunk opening and the world’s first cabin CO2 level sensor are also standard.
The sedan will be introduced to Europe later this year in limited numbers, ‘offering discerning owners the highest levels of comfort and driving performance ever provided by a Hyundai car in Europe’.
