Specifically launched for the European market, the new 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder is the same unit as in the Q50 and offers 167PS and 400Nm of torque from 1600rpm through 2800rpm, and offers improvements in turbo-diesel lag time and fuel consumption.

Improvements have also been made to the Q70 Hybrid, resulting in a slight increase in possible EV range.

The refreshed model also gains new styling. On the outside, there’s revised front and rear bumpers, standard-fit LEDs for the headlights and a revised standard grille and Sport grille, all intended to bring it in line with the new Q50 mid-size premium saloon. There’s also new standard 18-inch wheels.

Inside, there’s improvements to NVH along with the addition of the Around View Monitor (AVM), which uses front and rear cameras, sensors and lasers to help drivers at blind intersections, tight urban situations, as well as during parking manoeuvres.

The Q70 now also features a greatly enhanced connectivity interface for any variety of current smartphone, as well as additional 12V outlets placed strategically about the cabin and cargo area, plus added small stowage spots for these personal devices. Meanwhile the climate control now syncs up with the Start/Stop function on the 2.2 turbo-diesel Q70 for Europe, allowing cabin comfort to be maintained as necessary whenever the engine is stopped.

The new Infiniti Q70 starts deliveries in European markets as of December 2014 with all pricing to be announced closer to launch time.
