Infiniti concept previews luxury four-door fastback
The carmaker says the concept provides evidence of a clear intent to have an entry into the newly defined premium fastback segment, giving it a rival to models such as the Mercedes-Benz CLS, BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A7.
The carmaker added that the top-of-the-line four-seat fastback ‘rises above the crowd’ and is ‘designed to shake up the status quo in the premium large four-door club; a no-compromise ambassador of driver-centric powertrain and onboard technologies’.
Set to be unveiled at next week’s Paris Motor Show, the fastback sedan concept showcases hybrid-electric powertrain implementation as well as additional technologies.
The model measures 5,052 mm with a long wheelbase of 3,103mm, with width of 2,027mm and height of 1,350mm.
Design features include 22-inch five-dual-spoke lightweight alloys whilst side-door mirrors have been removed to improve the aesthetics of the profile. There’s also a teardrop-shaped panoramic roof and portal style opening doors, in order to display the cabin and facilitate access. Inside there’s carbon-fibre, aluminium, and leather detailing and the brand also promises a spacious "1 + 1 + 1 + 1" seating.
No details have been announced of the hybrid powertrain but the concept brings a advanced adaptive suspension and a light and rigid chassis along with acoustic glass all around and additional sound deadening, said to promise a driving and ride experience among the very best.
‘After showing Q30 Concept and Q50 Eau Rouge, Infiniti is eager to show the upper range of our portfolio expansion,’ said Infiniti executive design director, Alfonso Albaisa. ‘In Q80 Inspiration, we wanted to capture that unforgettable feeling when you experience something important, something beautiful, something magnetic for the first time.’
