Unveiled at the IAA at Hanover, the concept is based on Iveco’s Dual Energy technology and the chassis unveiled at the 2012 edition of the Hanover trade show.

The Dual Energy system brings together 100% electric power for urban journeys and hybrid power for longer journeys, reducing consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 25%.

The Vision also focuses on three new areas to be trialled, including a new adaptive Human/Machine Interface, which sees the vehicle equipped with a high- integration tablet, which communicates with the on-board electronics.

A further area of focus was a design characterised by total visibility and the Vision incorporates ample glazed surfaces and “see-through” front pillars to guarantee unrestricted outside visibility from the cabin – while rear camera sight is displayed on a panoramic screen on top of the windshield.

Iveco also explored a new fully automatic system for load management, which uses a series of sensors that identify the goods and then indicate the correct positioning of these within the vehicle interior, triggering containment devices that prevent the movement of larger packages. Beside protecting valuable goods from damage, improved space management also makes loading and unloading faster – with an obvious efficiency gain.

No plans for a production version have been announced but the manufacturer said that the concept ‘is a laboratory for the study and development of new technological solutions and future modes of transport, which represent the natural evolution of Iveco’s light commercial vehicle range’.
