Jaguar I-Pace named UK Car of the Year 2019
The Jaguar I-Pace has scooped the UK Car of the Year accolade for 2019 after defeating 11 other class winners to take the top title.
The I-Pace, also the winner of the Best Executive category, marks the third battery-powered car to take the overall COTY title in the last six years, as voted for by the UK Car of the Year judges.
“As manufacturers take electric vehicles more seriously, Jaguar is leading the pack with I-Pace, which offers fantastic range and performance as well as a stylish and spacious interior for driver and passengers,” commented John Challen, director of the UK Car of the Year Awards and editor of International Fleet World. “The UK Car of the Year Awards judges are always keen to recognise innovation and that is certainly the case in 2019.”
Rawdon Glover, Jaguar Land Rover MD, said: “This latest major award for I-Pace is something we can all be extremely proud of. This car was conceived, designed and engineered in Britain, so to have a selection of the nation’s leading automotive journalists vote it as the overall UK Car of the Year against some stiff competition is a special moment for us.”
The awards – voted for by a panel of 29 of the UK’s leading motoring journalists – also saw the Alpine A110 take second place with the Volvo XC40 in third.
