In his new role Mr Kim will be responsible for a market with Kia sales approaching 300,000 a year, more than 10 times the size of sales in Australia.

‘It is a very exciting and challenging new role, but it is not without regrets that I am leaving Australia. I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenges, the success and the potential for an even better future that we have seen, and continue to look forward to, in Australia,’ Mr Kim commented.

Mr Kim had spent four years in Australia as the Co-ordinating director for Sales in the mid-2000s before returning to take up the role of president and chief executive officer of KMAu in January last year.

During his time in Australia, Mr Kim has overseen a golden era in new Kia product and the consequent rise in Kia sales and brand value.

‘It is not easy to be leaving when the plans and goals we have set in place are beginning to bear fruit, but I am confident that my replacement and the management team I leave behind will continue along the path to greater success,’ he added.

Mr Kim will be succeeded as president and chief executive officer of Kia Motors Australia by Mr Chong Woo (Charlie) Kim.
